The Digital Toolkit is only useful if it stays accurate, clear and up to date. It gets better when the people who use it tell us what is missing, fix what is wrong, and share what they have learned.
This page is for anyone – inside GovTech or in a ministry, department or agency – who wants to help improve the toolkit. You do not need to be a technical person.
Who can contribute
Anyone can. You do not need to work for GovTech. We especially welcome help from people who use the toolkit in their day-to-day work, and from suppliers who build government services.
What you can help with
All of these make the toolkit better:
- fixing errors – a broken link, a wrong fact, a spelling mistake, out-of-date guidance
- improving content – making a page clearer, shorter or easier to follow
- adding content – a new page that fills a gap
- suggesting a resource – a tool, template or guide others would find useful
- reporting a problem – telling us something is confusing, even if you are not sure how to fix it
If you are not sure whether something is worth raising, raise it anyway. A short note is enough.
How to suggest a change
There are two ways, depending on how comfortable you are with GitHub.
If you use GitHub, you can open an issue or a pull request in the toolkit’s code repository. The full steps are in the contributing guide on GitHub.
If you do not use GitHub, email info@govtech.bb instead. Tell us which page you are looking at and what you would like to change or add. The GovTech team will make the change for you. You will not miss out by not knowing GitHub.
What we expect from content
Every page in the toolkit is written in plain language, for the reader with the least confidence. Before you write or edit a page, read the Service content standards. They explain how we write: short sentences, common words, clear structure, and a consistent style across all government services.
What happens next
Once you get in touch or open an issue:
- The GovTech team reviews it. We aim to look at new contributions within a week or two.
- We may ask questions or suggest edits – usually about plain language or keeping things consistent with the rest of the toolkit.
- We make the change live once it is ready.
We review every contribution, so please do not be put off if we suggest edits. It is a normal part of keeping the toolkit clear.
